e.proof.anchor.head.f

An anchor names a commit the record's history does not contain.

Retrying the same thing changes nothing.

What a response says

The anchor at {at} names the commit {head}, which is not an ancestor of {current}.

The placeholders are filled from at, head, current, which travel positionally in the args member of the response.

What to do

The CESR walk proves the entries chain; this proves they chain to the history the record actually has. An anchor pointing off the surviving chain is what hold contention leaves behind.

Where it sits

Sorter e — Error. The problem clearly defeats someone's intentions.
Obstacle e.proof. — Supplied material fails verification against a reference
Disposition f — Final. Retrying the same thing changes nothing.

A handler can match this code exactly, or by any prefix above it: e.proof., e.proof.anchor., e.proof.anchor.head..
